Day 78: Locked Out

Can't go into the house today, they locked all the doors & windows.

Kitchen is being done, the benchtop, cabinets, & the island bench are being done. The sink has been put in, hopefully they don't stuff this up, we upgraded our sink to a double sink.

Day 76: Cornice & Lock Up Stage

Brick work is completed. I think they've done a good job with the bricking.

Cornice is almost done. They must have run out of materials, because the kitchen area was not done yet.



We also received the biggest invoice, lock up stage. I informed them that we are still considering the lock up stage is not completed yet until they fix the roof ridge capping on top of the ensuite. This was supposed to have been fixed last week. We are just hoping the heavy rain last week didn't cause any damage to the ceiling plasterboard under the damaged roof capping. Will have to ask the inspector to specifically look at this area.

Day 71: Brick work almost done & Plaster started

Bricking almost completed, they only need to do the pillars in the alfresco & portico & under the windows.

Plastering started yesterday & they've plastered pretty much the whole house.

Day 66: Bricking continues

Bricking continues this week. Nothing else is done, plastering is due to start end of this week but nothing is done yet.

Day 62: Repairs are done

Had an onsite meeting with the SS this afternoon. Went through everything on the inspection report & was happy that everything had been fixed with the exception of the front door sill flashing, which I agreed to be done when they are doing the fitting stage.

The brickies been working hard as well, they were onsite on Saturday for half a day & they were onsite today until the rain got too heavy.

The plasterer came to inspect what needs to be done while we were going through the repairs & he said he will start work on Wednesday or Thursday.

Day 58: Yay.... Repairs

Got an email from the SS this morning saying the concreter will be there first thing in the morning to fix the slab & he'll have a meeting onsite with the carpenter to fix the frame. He called back after the meeting with the carpenter & told me they'll do the work on Saturday. We will have an onsite meeting on Monday to go through everything & make sure repairs are done.

Exposed Steel has been covered.


Hanging frame has been fixed.


Meanwhile the brickies been hard at work & has done more work at the side of the house & the garage.

Day 57: Waiting....

Got a letter from Porter Davis, they are claiming 13 additional days due to weather. That's fine with us, we'll still get the house completed before Christmas.

The brick work continues today, they did a bit more at the side & they started on the garage. The only problem is that part of the garage is where 1 of the issue is - the lintel/beam in front of the garage has to be tied down to the wall stud then in turn the wall stud is to be tied down to the slab.



I had a chance to talk to my clients who happen to be concreters who do a lot of jobs for major builders. All they said was that our slab problem was an easy issue to fix providing the brickwork is not done yet. They even offered to fix it for me, however I believe I can't bring in my own contractor.

On another positive note, my CSC forwarded my email to a construction manager who said he'll follow up on the issues with the SS. Fingers crossed this will speed up the repairs.
